Philosophy
Long before Thornewood existed, service was already a way of life.
My father captained a charter boat along the Pacific Channel, and instead of daycare, I grew up aboard. I spent my earliest years watching tides change, passengers arrive as strangers and leave as friends, and learning how much care lives in the smallest details. By six years old, I was working the galley — carefully carrying steaming bowls of noodles through narrow stairways as the boat moved beneath my feet.
Balance, awareness, and anticipation weren’t taught as concepts. They were lived daily.
Those early experiences shaped a lifelong understanding that environments matter — that people remember how a space made them feel long after they forget the schedule or the logistics behind it.
Though my career eventually moved onto solid ground, the purpose remained the same: caring for people during moments that matter.
Across decades in hospitality, operations, and live events, I’ve come to understand that exceptional experiences are rarely defined by spectacle alone. They are created through subtle alignment — thoughtful timing, intuitive service, and an atmosphere where guests feel effortlessly welcomed and supported.
